North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reaffirmed his country’s support for Russia in the war against Ukraine and expressed his intention to deepen cooperation with Moscow.
The position was conveyed in a message sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which Kim Jong-un pledged “unwavering” support for Russia and expressed confidence in Moscow’s victory in the conflict.
The North Korean leader also said Pyongyang’s commitment to expanding and strengthening cooperation with Russia remains firm.
Relations between the two countries have intensified in recent years, particularly since the signing of a strategic partnership treaty in 2024 that provides for mutual assistance in the event of armed aggression.
Cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang has also extended to the military sphere. Thousands of North Korean troops have taken part in operations against Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region.
North Korea has also strengthened its political support for Russia, publicly backing Moscow’s position in the conflict with Ukraine.
