Inhambane: Vilankulo Gets New District Court

The new facility is intended to bring justice services closer to citizens and strengthen the capacity of institutions to respond to cases in one of Mozambique’s main tourism districts.

The inauguration was held under the theme “Justice at the Service of Tourism, a Path to Development”.

According to the authorities, the new court is expected to improve access to justice and provide better conditions for handling legal cases in the district.

During the ceremony, Daniel Chapo also highlighted the importance of combating domestic violence, arguing that peace and development begin within families.

“There can be no violence in the family. If there is violence, children will witness it and may come to see it as a normal way of life,” he said.

The Head of State warned that domestic violence is not limited to physical assault and can also take the form of psychological and verbal abuse.

Chapo also called for greater community involvement in promoting peace and national unity, saying that stability within families can have a positive impact on society.

The President also highlighted the role of women in raising children, managing households and taking part in economic activities such as agriculture, trade and fishing.

During his visit to Inhambane, Chapo also called for public policies aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment and improving access to financing for productive initiatives.

The new Vilankulo District Judicial Court is the first infrastructure of its kind inaugurated during the current cycle of government.
