According to the state-owned electricity company, the interventions aim to improve the performance of the distribution network, ensure greater reliability of electricity supply and reduce the occurrence of faults that could compromise the quality of service provided to consumers.
In Maputo City, power interruptions are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., partially affecting the Central C and Polana Cimento C neighbourhoods, where technical teams will carry out maintenance work on the electricity network.
In Gaza province, the outages are scheduled for Sunday, 1 November, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., covering the districts of Chókwè, Guijá, Massingir, Mabalane, Mapai, Chicualacuala and Massangena, as well as the Zinhane Administrative Post.
The interruption in this province could last up to 10 hours, during which consumers in the affected areas are advised to take preventive measures to minimise disruptions caused by the temporary suspension of electricity supply.
In central Mozambique, EDM has also scheduled maintenance work in Sofala, Manica and Zambézia provinces for Sunday, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
In Sofala, the work will affect the town of Marromeu, while in Manica province, interruptions are expected in the districts of Sussundenga and Macate.
In Zambézia, the outages will affect the districts of Mopeia and Luabo, where electricity supply is expected to remain suspended for approximately eight hours, according to the company's published schedule.
The interventions form part of regular maintenance activities on electricity infrastructure, aimed at ensuring network stability and preventing supply failures that could affect households and economic activities.
EDM has advised consumers in the affected areas to take appropriate safety precautions during the maintenance period, warning that all electrical installations should be considered live at all times, even when electricity supply is temporarily interrupted.
The company has also appealed for consumers' understanding regarding the inconvenience that the maintenance work may cause, emphasising the importance of infrastructure maintenance in improving the quality and continuity of electricity supply across the country.
The scheduled outages are limited to the neighbourhoods, localities and districts identified in the notice and will not necessarily affect the entirety of the five provinces.
