Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) has announced scheduled power cuts in some areas of Gaza and Inhambane provinces due to preventive maintenance work on the electricity network.
According to the company, the interruptions are scheduled for 16 and 17 September 2026 and are intended to improve the stability, safety and reliability of the electricity system.
In Gaza Province, the power cut is scheduled for Wednesday, 16 September, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The affected areas include the administrative posts of Chicumbane and Zongoene, as well as parts of the Fidel Castro, Ndambine 2000, Tembene and Switinine neighbourhoods.
In Inhambane Province, the interruption is scheduled for Thursday, 17 September, also between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The cuts are expected to affect the districts of Massinga and Morrumbene.
EDM says the work is part of preventive maintenance measures aimed at reducing the risk of breakdowns and unexpected outages with a greater impact on consumers.
The company has advised customers to plan their household and business activities in advance during the scheduled interruption periods.
EDM also warned that all electrical installations should be treated as permanently energised, as power may be restored earlier than expected if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule.
