Toll Fees Become More Expensive in Angola

Under the new tariff schedule, fees will rise from a previous range of 100 to 2,000 kwanzas to between 250 and 85,000 kwanzas, depending on the type of vehicle and the toll location.

The last adjustment to toll fees was made in 2019.

According to the Angolan government, the increase is intended to generate more resources for the maintenance and preservation of the country’s road network, which covers around 74,000 kilometres.

At the Barra do Kwanza, Luvo and Nóqui toll stations, the new rates will take effect on Friday.

Motorcycles will pay a minimum fee of 250 kwanzas, while some heavy vehicles may be charged up to 7,000 kwanzas at these locations.

At border crossings, fees for heavy vehicles will be higher and may reach 85,000 kwanzas.

Ana Cristina da Costa, Chairperson of the Road Fund and Emergency Works Fund, said toll revenue will be used to repair and maintain road infrastructure.

According to the official, the Angolan government is seeking to diversify funding sources in order to reduce pressure on the State Budget.

Toll fees in Angola can be paid in cash or by card.

At border crossings, payments are collected by the General Tax Administration.
