According to information gathered by the authorities, the incident occurred last Thursday at the victim’s home.
The suspect allegedly entered the elderly woman’s house, where he is accused of physically assaulting and sexually abusing her.
The victim was assisted after neighbours noticed suspicious activity and intervened, allowing her to receive help following the attack.
The woman’s daughter said she found her mother in a weakened condition and that the quick response from neighbours was important in ensuring she received assistance.
The victim suffered physical injuries and continues to receive care following the incident.
During the suspect’s presentation to the media, the PRM said that the rapid report from residents and coordination by police officers helped authorities locate and arrest the man shortly afterwards.
According to police, the suspect remains in custody while legal procedures and investigations continue.
The man reportedly claimed that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the alleged crime.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the case and gather evidence for the legal process.
The PRM has again stressed the importance of quickly reporting suspicious situations, saying that public cooperation can help improve police response and protect victims.
