The Association of Retired Employees of Mozambique’s Assembly of the Republic (AFAR) has approved its official symbols, in a move aimed at strengthening the organisation’s identity and institutional structure.
The decision was taken during an Extraordinary General Assembly held in Maputo, where members discussed the association’s internal organisation and future activities.
AFAR General Assembly President José Zefanias Chiconela described the approval of the symbols as an important milestone and called on members to remain actively involved in the organisation.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of regularly paying membership fees and joining contributions to support the association’s financial sustainability.
Members also discussed preparations for AFAR’s first anniversary, scheduled for 24 October.
The meeting further addressed the need to strengthen the association’s internal organisation and establish clearer criteria for admitting new members.
AFAR was created to defend the socio-economic interests and promote the well-being of retired employees of Mozambique’s Assembly of the Republic.
The association is expected to meet again on 6 November to assess activities carried out in 2026 and prepare its work programme for 2027.
During the same meeting, members are expected to review membership fees, discuss the association’s budget and receive an update on the housing process in Katembe.
