The distinction was presented during the second edition of the “Só Elas em Palco” project, held at Rádio Moçambique’s Auditorium Studio in Maputo.
The recognition, dated 29 September, was signed by the President of the Board of the Casa de Moçambique in Portugal, Enoque João, and the President of the General Assembly, Simão João.
According to the institution, the award recognises Tchakaze’s career, her contribution to promoting Mozambican culture abroad and the social impact associated with her artistic work.
Upon receiving the award, the artist dedicated the distinction to women and said she regarded the appointment as both a privilege and a responsibility.
The ceremony was part of the “Só Elas em Palco” show, an initiative that brought together women from different artistic fields, including music, dance, poetry and theatre.
The event featured performances by Tchakaze, Kátia Tembe, Rukan Rosy, Wilma Williamo, Vânia Óscar and Juliana de Sousa, as well as the Hody group.
During the show, Tchakaze performed songs including “Zula” and “Mulher tem Força”, with the evening concluding with a collective performance of “No Time to Loose”.
Tchakaze began her music career at the age of 17 and is known for songs such as “Nkata” and the album “Tchukela”. She also has training in Psychiatry and Mental Health and acting experience, having appeared in the television series “A Infiltrada”.
The “Só Elas em Palco” project is also broadcast on Rádio Cidade 97.9 FM, with a third edition already planned.
