According to the regulator, a new Tariff Management System is currently being developed and is expected to become operational in November. The platform will allow the INCM to monitor prices, terms and validity periods of telecommunications packages offered by operators.
The measure follows a growing number of complaints from consumers who say their internet bundles are being depleted faster than expected.
The INCM said the new system will make it possible to compare tariffs, determine the actual cost of services and monitor the conditions applied to consumers.
“This platform will strengthen the monitoring of tariffs and packages offered by operators, compare tariffs, identify the actual price of the service, including conditions and validity, verify the conditions applied to consumers and ensure greater transparency and accountability in the provision of telecommunications services,” the regulator said.
The INCM also wants to ensure that the advertised validity period of data bundles provides real value to consumers, preventing situations in which data is exhausted well before the package’s expiry date.
Alongside the new platform, the regulator is working on restructuring telecommunications packages with the aim of making offers fairer and more predictable for consumers.
Telecommunications operators have also been instructed to provide clear, accessible and verifiable information on data usage, remaining balances and the conditions applicable to each package.
The INCM said it will continue to monitor consumer complaints and may conduct technical inspections whenever there are indications of irregularities in the accounting of mobile data consumption.
