The Tete Municipal Council has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of five new vehicles and 30 waste containers aimed at improving basic services provided to residents.
The investment is valued at around 24 million meticais and was financed through municipal revenues collected from taxes and fees.
The new equipment includes two container trucks, a water tanker with a capacity of 20,000 litres, a four-tonne truck and a light vehicle assigned to the Infrastructure and Vertical Signage Department.
According to the municipality, the equipment is expected to improve solid waste collection, urban maintenance and water supply in areas facing the greatest shortages.
The water tanker will mainly be used to support neighbourhoods experiencing water shortages, including Matundo, Chingodzi, Samora Machel and Mpáduè.
The municipality also expects the new trucks and waste containers to improve the efficiency of city cleaning services and strengthen the capacity of municipal teams to respond to residents’ needs.
The investment is part of the Municipal Council’s efforts to improve sanitation, water supply and infrastructure maintenance across the city of Tete.
