Tanzania: Frelimo Calls for African Unity to Achieve Economic Independence
By Osvaldo 1 min

Frelimo Secretary-General Chakil Aboobacar has called for greater unity among African countries to accelerate the pursuit of economic independence and improve living conditions across the continent.

He made the remarks in Tanzania during the closing ceremony of the Training of Trainers Programme at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School, whose Board of Trustees is chaired by Aboobacar.

During the event, Chakil shared the vision of Frelimo President and Mozambican President Daniel Chapo on the need to place economic independence among the key development priorities.

He said achieving this goal requires well-trained professionals, committed leadership and greater participation of young people in building more prosperous societies.

Chakil also called for stronger cooperation and unity among African countries and political parties around common economic development goals.

During the ceremony, the Frelimo Secretary-General presented graduates with copies of Daniel Chapo’s book, “Renewing Mozambique: A New Era, A Pact with the People.”

According to Chakil, the book can serve as a source of inspiration for the transformation and renewal of sister parties and former liberation movements.

He also urged these organisations to remain close to the aspirations of their populations and strengthen their participation in the development processes of their respective countries.
