September 25: FRELIMO Pays Tribute to the Armed Forces

In a message commemorating the occasion, the party recalled that September 25 marks the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation in 1964 against Portuguese colonial rule.

FRELIMO highlighted the role of the so-called “September 25 generation”, praising the commitment and courage of those who took part in the struggle for Mozambique’s independence.

According to the party, the date should also serve as a moment of reflection on the country’s history and on the sacrifices made throughout the process of nation-building.

In the message, FRELIMO paid tribute to the Mozambique Armed Defence Forces, underlining their role in defending sovereignty, territorial integrity and the interests of the State.

The party also said that fulfilling the Armed Forces’ mission requires discipline, professionalism, patriotism and dedication to serving the country.

FRELIMO further called on younger generations to draw inspiration from the legacy of those who led the national liberation struggle and to contribute to preserving peace, national unity and Mozambique’s economic development.

The party also argued that building the country should be seen as a collective responsibility, calling for citizens to contribute to the creation of a safer and more prosperous society.

The September 25 commemorations take place at a time when the Armed Forces remain involved in security operations, including efforts to combat terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
