The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) has issued a strong wind warning for southern Mozambique, with particular focus on Maputo City, Maputo Province and southern Gaza.
The alert is valid until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, during which wind gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour may occur.
According to INAM, the strong winds could cause rough sea conditions, with waves reaching around three metres in height south of latitude 25 degrees South.
The effects are expected to be felt in several districts of Maputo Province, Maputo City and southern Gaza Province.
In addition to the strong winds, a significant drop in temperature is also expected in the areas covered by the warning.
At sea, the risk area extends up to around 50 nautical miles off the coast, south of latitude 25 degrees South.
In view of the forecast, INAM is advising the public and maritime operators to take precautionary and safety measures, particularly in coastal areas and places more exposed to strong winds.
The Institute is expected to issue a new weather update on Monday, September 28, at 10:00 a.m.
