ChatGPT Comes to Word to Help Create Documents

OpenAI has made ChatGPT available directly inside Microsoft Word, allowing users to create, edit, summarise and review documents without leaving the text editor.
The integration works through a ChatGPT sidebar within Word. From there, users can turn notes into drafts, summarise lengthy documents, review selected passages and reorganise content.
The tool can also help adjust headings, numbering and formatting, as well as identify unclear language or inconsistencies in terminology.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT for Word is available across all plans, including the free version, although usage limits continue to depend on each user’s subscription.
To use the feature, users need to install the ChatGPT add-in through the Microsoft Marketplace, open Word and sign in to their ChatGPT account.
For organisations, workspace administrators can manage access to ChatGPT in Word, while Microsoft 365 administrators may also need to authorise the add-in.
The integration forms part of OpenAI’s broader effort to bring ChatGPT into commonly used productivity tools, making it easier to create, revise and manage content within everyday work applications.
