The National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (Anamola) is holding its National Council meeting this Saturday, September 26, in Maputo, to assess its first year of activity and define priorities for the party’s next phase of organisation.
The meeting is taking place in a hybrid format and involves national structures as well as members of the diaspora. The main items on the agenda include assessing previously adopted decisions, reviewing the party’s level of organisation across the country and strengthening internal coordination mechanisms.
According to Anamola spokesperson Alberto Manhique, the National Council is also expected to identify areas that need to be strengthened and turn the challenges encountered over the past year into concrete measures.
The meeting will also focus on consolidating party structures and defining guidelines for the next stage of the political organisation.
Anamola was legalised in August 2025 and held its first National Council meeting the following month in the city of Beira, where instruments regulating the party’s internal operations were approved.
Since then, the party has moved forward with the establishment of provincial, district and diaspora structures.
In June this year, Anamola held its first National Convention in Nampula, where Venâncio Mondlane was elected party president after serving as interim leader since the organisation was created.
The National Council meeting is also taking place less than two months before Venâncio Mondlane’s trial, which is currently scheduled for November 17 by the Supreme Court.
Mondlane is facing proceedings related to the demonstrations that followed the 2024 general elections.
Through Saturday’s meeting, Anamola aims to assess the path followed since its legalisation and define the next steps for its internal organisation.
